The social networking website Facebook allows registered users to make online connections with each other, an action called adding friends. Your Friends List is attached to your Facebook profile, accessible by clicking on the “Friends” tab in the left-hand column on your profile page. In this area, three different types of Facebook friends are published, whom you might think of as followers: your partner, your family members and your friends. These main followers are determined by several factors.
The next way you can specify which individuals appear on your Facebook profile is by adding family members. You can also access this item by clicking on the “Friends and family” tab when you edit your profile. You can add your children, your parents, siblings, aunts, uncles and anyone with whom you are related.
A sample of your Facebook friends also appears on the left side of your profile. By default, this sample is added based on Facebook users with whom you interact more. This sample takes into account only public interactions, such as comments on the users’ wall or Facebook events that they both attended, and not private interactions, such as a personal message sent using Facebook. This sample changes, so you may not see the same friends listed in that location each time you visit your profile page.
Facebook also allows you to add specific friends in the column on the left side of your profile. To do this, click on the “Edit profile” button in the upper right corner of your profile, then on the “Friends and family” tab on the left side. At the bottom of the page there is a section called Featured Friends and below it there are two links. The first link says “Create a new list”, while the second says “Add an existing list or group”. By clicking on any of these links, you can add friends to a new or existing list, then choose to have that list of friends appear on your Facebook profile.
Organize featured friends
Facebook also allows you to accommodate the order in which your Featured Friends appear on your profile. While your relationship will always appear at the top of this section, unless you are not in a relationship, or have not specified a partner, you can rearrange the order of your family lists, friends, and featured friends. At the bottom of the Friends and Family section of your profile edit page, click on one of these groups and drag them to the position you want. Click on the “Save changes” button at the bottom of the page to save your configuration.
