How to wirelessly connect a projector to a computer

Connecting a projector to your home network can allow any computer in the house to use the device wirelessly, to achieve a new dimension of productivity in your home computing environment. Performing this task is quite simple, even for a novice user of the computer. All that is required is an operating system that allows shared use of the projector through the network, such as Windows Vista or Windows 7. The installation process should not take more than 10 minutes.

Step 1

Connect the projector to one of your home computers that is networked via cable (usually a USB connection for most projectors). Follow the instructions that come with the projector to install it on the host computer.

Step 2

Activate the projector assistant on the computer with wireless connection by clicking on the “Start” menu, then type “Share projector” in the search box. Click on the option that appears, such as “Connect to a network projector.” This will show an on-screen wizard designed to complete the connection process.

Step 3

Use the “Search for a projector” option to automatically detect the projector connected to your home network. Select the projector from the list and follow the rest of the instructions on the screen to complete the connection procedure, after which you can connect to the projector using your wireless remote equipment.
